Popular Violin String Sets
In addition to the full set of Dominant strings, another popular option among violinists is to replace the Dominant E string with the E string from another brand. If the violinist prefers a specific sound for their instrument, these combinations can often result in a warmer or more projecting tone for the upper strings.

PirastoOliv E: The Oliv E is brilliant and powerful especially inhigher positions.

I am confused by your new “set” way of ordering Dominant violin strings. I want a silver D and don’t see how to specify it. “Mixed” doesn’t tell me anything…

There are no premade sets for Dominants that include the silver D. To order a set that includes that string, each string would need to be ordered individually. Mixed refers to the different windings on the strings such as A – aluminum, D – aluminum, and G – silver.
