    Great value

    Jim (verified owner)

I bought Cantiga mediums last fall and finally got around to putting them on my main fiddle, replacing a set of Infeld Pi strings. I’ve had them on my instrument for 2 weeks now, and they are just now settling in. PROS: The Cantigas are about the same volume, a bit warmer in tone, and equally as responsive as the Pis, all at half the price. CONS: The Cantigas are slightly less clear and clean than the Pis. OPINION: For the price they are a great value and I intend to use them as my regular strings.

These strings truly make my violin sing sweetly! The sweetness reaches deep into the soul…! Listen to this tune, and you will agree. Mother’s Heart: https://youtu.be/DOP3ux_9VYs

    Soul-searching sweet!

    V T. (verified owner)

I love these Cantinga strings! Soul-searching sweet for A and E strings. Strong bass for the G and D strings. They enliven my dark violin, but tame down my bright violin. Good for both! Only one small matter: they can be prone to whistling when bowing cross-strings, (but could be because I am still very novice in my playing.) Can’t wait until the next big sale to stock up a few more sets.

    Lovely sound, settles quickly, affordable

    Michele (verified owner)

Let me preface this review by saying I don’t have all they fancy technical terms for what I’m going to describe just regular descriptions for how I feel about these new strings (and it’s pretty positive!).
I wanted to give these new strings a try and I’m so glad I did! I had used Eva’s for years, and LOVE them on my instrument for their bold projection and strength, clarity of sound, and how well they tune and settle, but the expense and how quickly they wear out made me search for something new. They sounded great, but I don’t play enough to justify buying them anymore. I am semi-professional–that is, I’m not in a major symphony or anything super impressive, but have played for 45 years and get paid for the occasional orchestral, musical theater, or wedding gig. For me it is a joyful hobby! So my strings may sit on my instrument for a few months without ever seeing the light of day. However, I replaced my Corelli Vision strings (which I also like, but simply wanted to try these), and the result is an easy to play string, with a velvety feel and sound. The projection is nice, but I don’t feel like I’m overpowering everyone like I did with Eva’s. They feel very smooth to play–no strain on my fingers and the bow feels a little soft on them (not mushy, just not as tight as I’m used to). They settled immediately and I was able to get right to playing. I have geared PegHed pegs (which I love, by the way!!!) and these strings haven’t given me trouble over these last few weeks since I put them on. I can’t yet speak to the life of them yet, but I’m hoping to get at least 6 months to a year out of them (unlike the 4 months I’d get from Eva’s when I was playing/practicing considerably more).

I purchased these on sale, so the value was amazing, but even the regular price for which SWS sells them is MUCH more affordable for the average player than Eva’s. So for those of you looking to try a new string with a pleasant sound, good response and easy playability, I’d recommend the Corelli Cantigas.

  5. Good sound for the money.

I have used these strings to replace the original steel strings on several cheap violins with excellent results.
