I bought the Kroger model on your advice as my son was ready to upgrade to the next step. He loves it, he says it sounds as good or better than the 30 year old violin he had been borrowing. He had btw also tried a Bucharest model (his teacher likes those) a few months back before he borrowed the older violin and he thinks the tone is a level up.

The sound of the violin sent to me was horrible. There was little strength and projection. I broke out my luthier notes and found the setup was way out of wack. Even the tailpiece was the wrong size for this instrument. The sound post, not ideally set. Part of the sales hype was their “experienced” luthiers would ensure the instruments setup was ideal. They must of forgot to send this to their luthier before mailing it. Anyway, I had a smaller tailpiece that Would allowed proper distance from the bridge. The sound post will just have to wait. I don’t believe this violin met their sales points.
I would return it, but I don’t have time. And, my minimal luthier skills did improve the sound and it’s projection considerably.

I bought this 3/4 violin for my oldest child over 12 years ago. I had Thomastik Dominant strings on it. It was a beautiful sounding violin that worked well for 3 of my children while in early middle school. It was the perfect “upgrade” after having played on $200 violins for several years. As my children were learning to shift and vibrate, the violin responded well.
