I wrote an earlier review with lower ratings as the mandolin arrived with a couple of cracks in the neck but have since revised as, once southwest strings was contacted, they responded admirably and sent me another mandolin. The second was in perfect shape. Very nice for the price! The only minor kvetch I have is the intonation is a little off. The harmonic at the 12th fret is slightly off from the fretted note by a few cents, but nothing dramatic. The wood is very pretty and the action is low without buzz. I’ve been playing it daily for exactly 4 weeks and 1 day at the time of this review, so I think I feel safe giving it high marks! We’ve bought multiple violins from SW strings and have always been satisfied, so I’m pleased to say this now extends to the first non-violin instrument we’ve purchased from them.

Product arrived with twin cracks running lengthwise down the neck from the nut. Clearly a manufacturing defect. I sent a return message the day I opened the package (Christmas) and I’ve received no response nearly 3 weeks later.
