Description
David Lien began studying violin in his own country, then studied for some years in Vienna. During that time he became interested in making, and went on to train in Cremona. David Lien is a wonderful example of top Asian makers training in the traditional European setting, then taking his knowledge and craft back home. He has gained renown from his Taiwan workshop.
David Lien violins are hand-carved from aged-select tone-woods. Spruce top of medium to fine grain. Two piece maple back of narrow to medium flame. Ribs and scroll similar to back. Finished in a spirit varnish of amber on a golden ground. Each violin is shop adjusted by our experienced, in-house (Tucson, AZ) luthiers, to assure excellent playability. Made in Taiwan.

I ordered this violin online, and I can tell you that, although it looks amazing online, it is even more beautiful in person. The sound matches the looks, and the setup is quite nice. One caveat: it does not come with parchment for the E string; that is why I am deducting one star. I called before placing the order and specifically asked about it; Rafael told me that it did. Now I will try to install it myself, as I cannot make a trip to the luthier—that was the precise reason for buying online.
The violin arrived safely packed.

Bought this beautiful violin for my 13 year old Granddaughter who has been playing since she was 4 years old. We listened to a number of violins in this price range and with the help of Adan Rico, by ear, we chose this model. It has a beautiful warm sound and gives us joy each time we hear it played.
