I want to establish that I’m an aspiring violinist. Ive been practicing for about a year: About three months into my discovering the violin I purchased Spirit strings and absolutely made a close tie to them. They ran old, as far as I could tell, within 5 months. The first set was amazing I remember the buttery sound I’d get from the set but the most recent purchase, in January, the strings seemed already old. They dont sound like I remember just over six months ago, when I bought this set. I’m inexperienced but I do not think new strings should sound this way. They are a bit ringy,like the metal wound is whats really singing and not the nylon core. To clairify: this is the second time Ive purchased Spirit strings, Im inexperienced yet they just dont sound like I remember. Take this review with little weight as Im nowhere near qualified enough to rate these strings.

Great value for price. They haven’t fully settled quite yet but are very close to it, and so far so good. Good response, good volume, nice tone–not too warm but just warm enough. I’ll have to find out the hard way how long these strings hold up before wearing out completely. But for the price, they already beat out most of the more expensive strings I’ve tried. However, if they wear out super quickly, all of their virtues might just be negated.

Wonderful fiddle strings for a Old Time Fiddle player! Brings extra warmth to the instrument especially on low G. Will buy again!
