Pirastro Obligato violinstrings are usually compared with Pirastro’s own Eudoxa violinstrings. The advances made by Pirastro’s multifilament core allowObligato violin string line to surpass their gut core “version”. These violin strings have an ample amount of depth and warmth withmore clarity and projection than do most strings designed to “warmup” a bright instrument.
Tone: Deep and warm withclarity and brilliance
Playability: Ease ofplaying for the left hand

Pirastro Obligato violin string composition:

- A string: Aluminum oversynthetic
- D string: Silver oversynthetic
- G string: Silver oversynthetic

I ordered a set of pirastro strings which were good in the past and I love this particular brand. Only had the strings about 2 1/2 months and the A string has started to fray. While they were nice when I called, I was told there was nothing they could do about it. Warranty is only maybe 30 days and nothing they can do after installed on the instrument. The whole purpose of buying strings is to install on an instrument. I would rather spend a little more and get a good set of strings instead of having to buy new one(s) so soon! Disappointed in Southwest strings.

I bought this to replace the PI strings that came with my daughter’s MJZ violin that we bought from another dealer. PI is too pricy for us even though the authority of the dealer told us that they tested many strings on the MJZ violin (not sure if they tested them on all or just selected violins). I have always wanted to try Obligato strings after I heard the sound of another student’s violin using Obligato strings. We had been using dominant from the very beginning, they sound great but a few years before we got this MJZ violin, dominant strings broke like crazy, unlike in the past they lasted for at least over a year.
The Oobligato strings make my daughter’s violin less bright, which we both prefer. The G string is powerful and sound darker and deep, yet sweet and pleasing. A and D are darker, too. E sounds sweet and not ear piercing like some other steel strings yet full of strength (I don’t prefer gold strings, tried that once with another brand on my Gliga violin and the sound that came out of it pierced my ear, I immediately took it off).
We have these strings on the MJZ violin for 11 months now, the strings still go on strong and sweet!
Love it and will buy these strings again for my daughter’s violin!
