Description
The Warchal Amber viola strings combine all of the experience and knowledge available to make the highest quality string set. The aim was to achieve at least the same quality of sound that gut strings provide, but without the typical tuning instability. To do this Warchal developed a completely new core material called W-Core®.
The Amber strings are available with both the synthetic as well as metal core A strings. The metal core A string benefits from the helix design which gives the metal core exceptional elasticity and results in a new level of sound quality. The synthetic core A string and the rest of the set uses the new W-Core® material.
Available with vibrating string lengths of 14-15″ (36-38cm), or 15-15.75″ (38-40cm). This length is the distance along the string from the bridge to the nut. A 14-15″ vibrating string length will generally fit a 15-15.5″ viola, while a 15-15.75″ vibrating string length is better for a 16″ or larger viola. Measuring your particular instrument is the best way to determine which size is appropriate.
The Amber string set is complemented by an exceptionally beautiful and luxurious silk winding design.

My instrument loves these strings! They are really even across all four strings, very warm sound, and a really impressive dynamic and color range. They respond super quickly and can take a lot of weight and articulation. I just put them on so I don’t know how long they last yet. If you like Obligatos you should try these strings!

Love these strings and work well on my small viola. Warm, even tone that offers depth and color. Camparable on my instrument to Obligatos. Cons: not a soloist string, but project well for chamber and small ensemble music.

I love these strings on my violins, but my viola needs something darker. I did get the metal A, so that may be part of it. My 15″ viola is unusually powerful and loud, and these don’t quite give it what it needs. Response is great, the feel is great, and I do like the tone in the lower strings. However, I probably won’t get these ones again for my particular instrument. The search for the right combination continues!

I have used Evah Pirazzi, Dominant, and Warchal Brilliant, and the Warchal Amber strings I consider to be the best.
I won’t go back to the others, unless I discover quality control issues in the future.
