  1. Responsive Strings

    Kara (verified owner)

These strings produce a clear, focused, responsive sound. They do take a few days to settle and then you can hear their warmth and depth. They are really responsive, so despite being low tension they respond quickly, which is a must for me as a fiddle style learner. I have a new violin and originally tried Kaplan Amos which are nice but a little too muffled compared to these. I can get an easy, clear tone out of these and they are easy to bow. I use the Pirastro Gold E with them so I can’t comment on the E string. I’m sure it’s nice. I may try it soon but I just always use the Gold E and it works well with the set.

  4. problematic A

    Jonathan C. (verified owner)

The strings in the set are good with the exception of the A, which responds poorly to bow pressure. The sound collapses and it is difficult to control. I much prefer Peter Infeld strings (also by Thomastik), which are very strong, have a good sound, and stabilize within hours. The VI Titanium Orchestra strings take much longer to stabilize (days) and do not stay in tune as well. PI strings, on the other hand, rarely need retuning, even after a day in the case. As an orchestral player, I need to have my strings stay in tune during long pieces.
