The Prelude Cello Case is popular for its light weight and insulation properties.
The shell is made from a dense, pressurized Styrofoam covered with a black screw attached, Cordura cover. Interior of plush black velveteen. Weight (4/4) 7 lbs.

The site has many instruments/options. I was a bit worried buying a cello online. No problem. Cello was shipped within a day and received in a week, which was crucial… My daughter is playing Carnegie hall and wanted the cello early to get used to. Great job!

I am a beginner cello student (and an advanced violinist and violin teacher) and I am so happy with this case. I could find nothing affordable on the market for hard cello cases and while this zips instead of buckles, coming from violins this isn’t a problem for me. My cello teacher said to leave the bottom unzipped when I’m home to be able to take it out of the case while it’s standing up and it has worked perfectly. Now I can walk to rehearsals on the streets of nyc and feel no fear from a bump or a nudge (I was given a soft case which is unthinkable to me!). Not to mention it’s might!! Anyway, very very good value. Would recommend.

Rigid foam is a great idea for protection from temperature, bumps and for light weight. Unfortunately the materials are cheap and the zipper and handles fail.
